How to Use Your 16-in-1 Vegetable Chopper
Thank you for choosing Living Standard! Your new 16-in-1 Vegetable Chopper is one of the most versatile tools you'll ever have in your kitchen. Whether you're chopping onions for a curry, dicing carrots for a salad, or grating cheese for a pasta dish, this little gadget makes everything faster and easier.
Here's how to get started.
Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients
Before you start chopping, wash your vegetables and fruits thoroughly. If you're using harder vegetables like carrots, potatoes, or beets, cut them into smaller chunks first—about 2 to 3 inches in size. This helps the blades work more smoothly and gives you better results. Also, make sure to remove any large seeds or pits from things like tomatoes, apples, or avocados.
Step 2: Pick the Right Blade
Your chopper comes with several blades, and each one does something different. Here's a quick breakdown:
-
Use the large dicing blade when you want bigger chunks—great for potatoes, onions, and bell peppers.
-
Use the small dicing blade for finer cuts like garlic, shallots, or salsa.
-
The wave slicer gives you crinkle-cut slices for cucumbers or carrots—perfect for adding a little style to your dishes.
-
The regular slicer gives you thin, even slices for things like tomatoes or potatoes.
-
The cheese grater is ideal for shredding cheese, carrots, or even potatoes.
-
The fine mill works well for grinding garlic, ginger, or nuts into smaller pieces.
-
And the grits cheese chopper is great for coarse grating harder cheeses or chocolate.
To attach a blade, just snap it into the base until it clicks. Make sure it's secure before you start.
Step 3: Place Your Ingredients
Put your prepared vegetable or fruit directly onto the blade. Then, place the hand protector on top. This keeps your fingers safe and gives you something comfortable to press down on.
Step 4: Press Down Firmly
Now press down firmly and steadily. The sharp stainless steel blades will cut through cleanly. You don't need to use a lot of force—just steady, even pressure. If you're chopping a larger quantity, just repeat the process until you have enough.
Step 5: Clean Up the Right Way
Cleaning is quick and easy, but there's one important rule: never put it in the dishwasher. Always hand wash it.
Just take it apart carefully, rinse the parts in warm water (below 60°C or 140°F) with mild dish soap, and use the cleaning brush to wipe away any leftover food from the blades. Dry everything well before storing it. The container that comes with it is perfect for keeping all your blades organized and safely stored.
A Few Helpful Tips
To get the best results, always use fresh ingredients. They chop more easily and come out looking cleaner. Also, try not to overload the chopper—small batches work much better than cramming too much in at once.
Always use the hand protector. It's there for a reason, and it really does keep your fingers safe.
And try to clean the chopper right after you use it. If food dries on the blades, it takes a bit more effort to scrub off later.
What to Avoid
There are a few things this chopper isn't designed for. Please avoid using it on frozen meat, raw coconut, bones, or hard seeds. These can damage the blades or crack the plastic base.
A Quick Safety Note
Keep the chopper on a flat, stable surface while using it—the non-slip base will help keep it steady. And since the blades are very sharp, always store the chopper out of reach of children.
If Something Isn't Working
If your ingredients aren't cutting cleanly, double-check that the blade is securely attached. If the chopper slides on your counter, make sure the surface is clean and dry. And if food gets stuck on the blades, soak them in warm soapy water for a few minutes and then scrub them gently with the cleaning brush.
